Obituary for
Frances Morris Dryer
Frances Morris Dryer, age 98, a resident of Annapolis, MD since 1999, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at her residence in Ginger Cove. She was previously a resident of Edgewater for approximately 32 years and prior to that of Washington, DC, Riverdale and Lothian, MD. She was married in Richmond, VA on November 23, 1957 to David Alan Dryer of Washington, DC. She was born on October 2, 1919 to Russell Fisher Morris and Nellie Tinder Morris in Richmond, VA and graduated in 1937 from Chester High School in Chester, VA and later from the Pan American Secretarial School in Richmond. She worked for the U.S. Government as a secretary from 1941 to 1966, retiring from the Agency for International Development, where she worked for eight consecutive Assistant Administrators for the Far East. She enjoyed reading, knitting, travel and her church. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Annapolis, NARFE, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 46 of Annapolis and the United Methodist Women of Trinity. She enjoyed planning trips and activities for the seniors of her church, with a group called, "Young at Heart" for 25 years. She and her husband sang in the church choir for many years. They traveled extensively in Europe, Israel, Morocco and the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii. She and her husband enjoyed 23 winters at their condominium in Cocoa Beach, FL. She is survived by her niece, Nancy Hardman Crenshaw of N. Chesterfield, VA; her nephew, William R. Hardman, Jr. of Mechanicsville, VA; her beloved goddaughter, Barbara Masemore of Philadelphia, PA, a great-niece, three great-nephews, two great-great nieces, two great-great nephews and her husband's nephew, Stanley G. Green of Annapolis and his son, Steven M. Green of Edgewater. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 51 years, David A. Dryer in 2008 and her sister, Elizabeth Morris Hardman of Richmond, VA. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at 11:30 am in the Annapolis Room at Ginger Cove, 4000 River Crescent Dr., Annapolis, MD.
