Obituary for Edward F. Ebert Jr.

Edward F. Ebert Jr.
Edward F. Ebert, Jr.
(Age 82)

Recently of Annapolis, and formerly of Bethesda, and Timonium, MD, entered eternal rest peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2017.
Ed was born on October 22, 1934, in Baltimore, the son of Edward Sr. and Margaret (Jacobs) Ebert. He was raised in West Baltimore and was a graduate of City College, Class of 1952. He attended Johns Hopkins University and graduated from the University of Maryland, with honors in American History, in 1956. His career with the C&P Telephone Co./Bell System spanned 33 years, interrupted by two years of service in the U.S. Army. Ed retired in 1989, as Assistant Vice-President of Public Relations with Bell Atlantic.
While at Hopkins in 1956, Ed met and fell in love with Nancy Salzman, whom he married in 1958. She passed away in 2002, after 44 wonderful years of marriage. Ed served in many volunteer positions, which included terms as past president of the Exchange Club of Cockeysville and terms on the Board of Managers for the Towson YMCA. He was active as a deacon and elder for Towson Presbyterian Church and Potomac Presbyterian Church. An avid sports enthusiast, Ed also enjoyed travel, poker nights, tennis, political discourse, reading, music, old movies and great friendships. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Torano, and her husband, Ted, and their children, Andrew, Julia and Elena, of Annapolis; daughter, Susan Sutton, and her husband, Craig, and their children, Katie, Tommy, and Danny, of New Hope, PA; sister, Joan Quinto and her husband, Joe; sister, Nancy Rabin and her husband, Fred, and many nieces and nephews.
Ed will be remembered for his youthful energy, courage, strength, optimism, resilience, humor, integrity, and unwavering love of family and faith. A memorial celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 17, 2017, at Potomac Presbyterian Church, 10301 River Road, Potomac, MD 20854.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support the DeCesaris Cancer Institute at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Gifts can be made payable to AAMC Foundation, noting on the memo line of the check, "In memory of Edward Ebert." Mail to AAMC Foundation, 2000 Medical Parkway, Belcher Pavilion, Suite 604, Annapolis, MD 21401.
