Obituary for Anne F. Brodes

Anne Brodes of Annapolis, MD passed away on February 11, 2021. She was born on January 7, 1932 in Jones Station, MD to the late William F. Kirby, Sr. and Thelma E. Kirby (nee' Howard) and was raised in Arnold. Anne was baptized into the Baptist faith in 1975.

She worked for C&P Telephone Company from 1952 to 1977 and for AT&T from 1977 until her retirement in 1987. Anne also worked for the State of Maryland as a switch board operator. Once her kids left home Anne realized she wasn't ready for a retirement lifestyle quite yet and found a rewarding second career as a hostess at McDonalds for 6 years.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading, games shows, slot machines. watching horseracing and occasionally a good Margarita. Most importantly Anne enjoyed helping others. She always looked after her family and provided for them.

In addition to her parents; Anne was preceded in death by her loving husband, William L. Brodes; a daughter, Frances Anne Hugg; two sisters and three brothers. She is survived by her three daughters, Carole, Cheryl, and Billie Anne; two grandsons, Louie and Michael; one granddaughter, Andrea; two great-grandsons, Kaedyn and Avery and two step-grandchildren she claimed as her own, Robert and Patti. She is also survived by three brothers and many nieces and nephews. Due to the ongoing COVID restrictions, Anne's interment at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock will be private.
