Obituary

Helen Ilene Marple passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 after a brief illness. Helen was born on October 14, 1939 to the late Merle and Lillian Shields in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She dabbled in residential real estate in both Minnesota and Maryland. Helen enjoyed traveling especially to Europe including Viking River Cruises through Spain. She enjoyed luncheons, teas and spending time with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her parents Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Charles Sheldon and her second husband, C. Scott Marple; her two daughters, Laura and Danielle Sheldon; a brother, Jack Duane Shields; sister, Doris Sorrells and a nephew, Stephen Dean. She is survived by her sons, C. Scott Marple, Jr and his wife Carolyn from IL, Chris Marple and his wife Cathy from VA, and David Marple from Arnold; sisters, E. Elaine Dean, TX, and Merle E. Nikodym and her husband Dewayne from NE; grandchildren, Lauson Charles Sheldon, C. Scott Marple, III, Brent Marple, Jonathon Judy, Nathan Marple, Caitlin Wright, and Kristen Marple; nieces, Traci Walters, Nikki Sieckmann; nephews, Mark Micus, and Jason Shields.

Friends are invited to celebrate Helen's life on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 3 to 5 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. On line condolence may be given by clicking on the link on this page.

My sincere sympathy to the family. I have been Helen's Massage Therapist for the past three years. She was a very special, sincere, sensitive lady. I will miss her a lot.

Our deepest sympayth to all of Helen's family. I will miss my friend. Words can not express the loss we feel. Helen was loved and admired by everyone who knew her. Her deep love for her family and Grandson will shine on forever. May God give you all comfort and healing peace. Love Sandy and Family
