Marilyn changed the way that I look at little things. She taught me so much about generosity, love, and reaching out to others to form a connection. I am grateful that I got to work for her. I say "got to" because I think I benefitted more than she did in the arrangement. When Marilyn hurt her shoulder, my sister Melanie and I helped her with chores, errands, and small tasks. We got to bake her famous Bourbon Nut Bread at Christmas time, we cleaned the pantry when a certain mouse decided to make it home, and ran errands. During work time, Marilyn always made sure we had aprons to wear and had a break for a proper lunch together in our work day. She lovingly taught us the correct way to measure dry ingredients versus wet ingredients. She also liked her sheets ironed, and got excited about organization. She exuded love and tenderness in everything she did, and her quiet insistence on perfection in matters of small detail were not only touching but showed just how much she cared. I loved Marilyn very much and feel privileged to be able to call her a friend and role model. John, Krista, and Matt, my deepest condolences for your loss. Marilyn was a one-of-a-kind special woman who taught everyone around her how to love deeply and without reservation. She will be missed.

Marilyn was a wonderful best friend. Growing up together in Washington, Iowa I have many fond memories of a kind, friendly, loving, fun gal. And, both our families got indoor plumbing at about the same time. We were classmates throughout junior high and high school, and we worked together at the local Maid Rite for four years. My Maid of Honor, she changed a flat tire on my car in less that fifteen minutes on the day we went to pick up my wedding dress. Although it’s been years since we’ve been together, I will always think of Marilyn as my best friend. My deepest sympathy to her dear family.

I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to the family for the loss of your dear Marilyn. I hope that you will find comfort in the words of Jesus at John 5:28,29 where he promised that the day is coming when he is going to resurrect back to life those in the grave. Until then, it is just like they are sleeping. (John 11:11-13) May you draw strength from Jehovah, the God of all Comfort.
