Shirley Norfolk, 86, a 57-year resident of Riva, MD, died at her home of kidney failure on February 23, 2021. Born December 19, 1934, in Deale, MD, to the late William and Ella Mae Catterton, she graduated from Southern High School. Shirley worked and retired from C & P telephone. She was a member of the American Legion, 3 Rivers, and the South County Senior Center. Shirley enjoyed ceramics, traveling, reading, playing cards, and shopping. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Samuel Norfolk; a daughter, Wendy Sullivan of Riva, MD; two brothers, Norman Catterton of Lothian, MD and Morris Catterton of Churchton, MD; two grandchildren, Chuck Phipps of Washington, DC and Megan Jones of Annapolis, MD; and a great-grandson, Michael H. Jones, Jr. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by four brothers, Sonny Boy, Charles, Linwood, and Wayne Catterton. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Shirleys' life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, March 3, from 10 am until her funeral service begins at 12 pm.
