Sherry Lynn Clayton, 69, a 38-year resident of Edgewater, MD, passed away on December 8, 2018 in Annapolis. Born on May 6, 1949 to Ann and the late Wilbur Murphy, Sherry grew up in Eastport and graduated from Annapolis High School before attending college. She worked as a secretary at the U.S. Naval Academy Library. Known for her spirituality, Sherry also was a talented negotiator. She loved a good deal and was a frequent shopper at yard sales and flea markets. Sherry also enjoyed cooking, baking and, most of all, caring for her family.
In addition to her father, Sherry was preceded in death by her sister, Diane. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Larry Clayton; her son, Brooke Harrison Clayton of Edgewater and her mother, Anne Murphy. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to an animal rescue shelter of your choice or, because of Sherry's longtime support of disabled veterans, a charity of your choice that assists disabled veterans.
