Obituary for Barton E. "Bart" Cannon

Barton E. "Bart" Cannon
Barton E. “Bart” Cannon, 80, a 21-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Vienna, VA, passed away on December 7, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 14, 1938 in Washington, DC to the late Rogers and Nina Cannon. Bart was preceded in death by his brother, Stephen Cannon. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolyn Ajello Cannon; two sons, Barton Cannon, Jr. of Clifton, VA and Billy (Judy) Cannon of Edgewater; a brother, Rogers Cannon, Jr. and sister, Lillian Lagana, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC; three grandchildren, Lindsay, Taylor and Abigail and one great-grandson, Anthony.
Bart was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Edgewater and the American Legion Post 226. An avid Redskins fan, he loved football and was a former youth team coach. Bart was also a history buff, very patriotic and enjoyed music and golfing. He found his greatest joy though just spending time with his family.
Friends are invited to celebrate Bart’s life with his family from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 13 at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Bart’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15 at St. Andrew’s UMC, 4 Wallace Manor Road, Edgewater. Burial will be private.
