Gertrude Elizabeth "Gert", "Sis" Cummings, 94, a resident of Mayo, MD for 68 years, died on Wednesday, October 17 at the Country Home Assisted Living in Harwood, MD.

Born on November 12, 1923 in Altoona, PA to the late Anthony and Agnes Greiner, Gert worked for many years with Nationwide Insurance Co. She was a charter lifetime member and past president of American Legion Auxiliary Post 226, a lifetime member of the Kiwanis Club, past president of Ki-Wives of Mayo and a parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she also taught CCD to the third graders for 25 years. Gert enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and bingo. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Norman Cummings. Gert is survived by her brother, William Greiner of Olney, MD; her children, Robert Cummings of Martinsburg, WV and Nancy Glascoe of Friendship, MD; her grandchildren, Stacey Hawkins and Bryan Glascoe and two great-grandchildren.

Friends are invited to celebrate Gert's life at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Monday, October 22 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd., Edgewater, MD on Tuesday, October 23 at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Annapolis, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Rd., Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093 or the American Cancer Society, 7500 Greenway Center Dr., Suite 300, Greenbelt, MD 20770.
