Dermott Lee Hickey, 77, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, MD, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Saturday, October 13, 2018, following a lengthy illness.

Known to family and friends as "Dermie," he was born on February 18, 1941, in Annapolis, MD to the late Dermott and Eleanor Hickey. He was employed as a photographer from 1964 to 2010, an Annapolis police officer from 1982 to 1994, Deputy Harbormaster from 1996 to 2003, and Legislative Services from 2005-2016. Dermott was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Anne Arundel Fish and Game, and the NRA. He enjoyed competitive target shooting, model building, and radio controlled cars.

He is survived by his wife, LouAnn Hickey, whom he married on May 12, 1973; three sons, David Hickey of Severn, MD, Tim Hickey of Annapolis, MD, and John Hickey of Chestertown, MD; a brother, Robert Hickey of Baltimore, MD; and nine grandchildren, John, Thomas, James, Joseph, Christianna, Jennifer, Katie, Lillian, and Lucy Hickey.

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at 10:30 am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery, 1911 Forest Drive, Annapolis, MD. Memorial donations may be made in Dermott's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
