John Andrew Royse, Sr., 85, of Annapolis, MD, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2018 after a brief illness.

He was born to the late Dr. George T. and Alawin Royse on August 8, 1933 in Amarillo, TX.

After graduating from Texas A&M University with a degree in Economics, John served as an Officer in the U.S. Army. He retired as an economist from the U.S. Department of Labor. John's interests included Bible study, researching and writing a scientific analysis of Genesis, reading, travel, and painting.

He was a member of Bay Ridge Christian Church. John is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Virginia Allphin Royse; three children, Lisa Royse of Summit Point, WV, Dr. Kimberly (Donald) Wollenhaupt of Peachtree City, GA, and J. Andrew (Itzel) Royse, Jr. of Centerville, VA ; three siblings, Roberta N. Streicher of Tucson, AZ, George T. Royse, Jr. of Waxahachie, TX, , and Marjorie A. Walsh of Amarillo, TX; and four grandchildren, Andrew and Sofia Wollenhaupt and Andres and Itzelina Royse.

Friends are invited to celebrate John's life on Tuesday, October 9 from 7 to 9 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 10 at 10:30 am at Bay Ridge Christian Church, 1071 Bay Ridge Road, Annapolis. Interment will follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville.
