Obituary for Colleen O. Jaroszek

Colleen O. Bowen Jaroszek, 76, a lifelong Annapolitan passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Colleen was born on July 15, 1942, in Maryland to the late Joseph V. and Theresa M. Bowen. At ten years old Colleen and her mom took part in watching the skies for enemy fighters with the Civil Air Patrol. She was a member of the 1960 graduating class of Annapolis High School. Colleen was retired from Anne Arundel Public Schools where she worked in elementary school cafeterias. She also enjoyed volunteering as a Sunday School and reading teacher. Colleen was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church at Eastport, St. Andrews, and Trinity. She enjoyed her Aerobics and Jazzercise workouts, bowling duckpins, and cheering on her Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Steelers. Colleen is survived by her husband, of 59 years Rodney J. Jaroszek, Sr; two children, Rodney J. (Denise) Jaroszek, Jr of Shady Side, and Marie A. Jaroszek and her husband Jimmy Long of Cambridge, MD; three siblings, Joe Bowen and his wife Michèle Jacobs of Columbia, MD, Marc D. (Cheryl) Bowen of Mayo, and Dorothy F. (Darrell) Brooks of Edgewater; four grandchildren, Charles Scrimshaw, Jedidiah (Heather) Scrimshaw, Michael Vance, and Melanie Vance; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to celebrate Colleen's life on Sunday, October 7, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 8 at10:30 am at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 4 Wallace Manor Rd., Edgewater. Interment to follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, Davidsonville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, Music Department, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
