Edly “Elaine” Oaks, 69, a 13-year resident of Calabash, NC and formerly of Riva, MD, died on September 12, 2018. Born on April 9, 1949 in Washington, DC to the late Edward and Grace Hart, Elaine was a 1967 graduate of Annapolis High School. She married the love of her life Donnie Oaks on August 12, 1967. Elaine began her career working for the State of Maryland as an administrative assistant, taking a break to raise her three children. Elaine finished her career working for the Maryland State Legislature. She was a member of Job’s Daughters, enjoyed bowling, traveling with her husband and friends going on numerous cruises over the years, and spending time with her sisters, children and grandchildren. Elaine is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donnie Oaks; her children Donnie H. Oaks Jr (Judy) of Riva, MD; Michael Tapp (Sharon) of North Beach, MD; and Kelli Andrews of Tracy’s Landing, MD; her brothers, Lewis Hart of Wilie, TX; Tommy Hart of Centreville, MD and Doug Hart of Annapolis, MD; her sisters Patricia Farrell of Annapolis, MD; and June Taylor of Port St Lucie, FL; and her grandchildren, Kaylin and Jack Andrews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law Ernie Andrews. Friends are invited to celebrate Elaine’s life at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater MD on Friday, September 21 from 6 to 8 pm where her funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 22 at 11 am.
